Pathophysiology and Prevention of Skin Necrosis

Breast skin necrosis can lead to poor healing, re-operation, and unaesthetic reconstructive outcomes after mastectomy. Furthermore, the prolonged recovery can delay adjuvant oncologic regimens. Our projects aim to explore the potential risk factors for mastectomy skin flap necrosis and to identify predictive clinical measurements. Additionally, we investigate the benefits of pretreatment with various topical agents in preventing skin necrosis using animal models.
